Why we're safe and secure

When it comes to the current world credit crisis, credit unions like Community First (who Easy Street is powered by) are less exposed and more secure than the banks. According to reports by the Sunday Telegraph, more and more consumers are turning to credit unions and building societies as a ‘safe haven’.

Security Update - EasyStreet

This is due to the way we are regulated and operate our business:

  • Community First does not engage in sub prime lending and do not invest in securities based on sub prime loans.
  • Community First funds 94% of our lending from retail deposits
  • Community First is subject to the same strict prudential standards as every Australian Bank
  • Community First is owned by our Members and NOT by external shareholders who may or may not do business with us. As such we are not under the same pressure as listed entities to maximize returns to external shareholders.

Due to these reasons, Community First and therefore Easy Street, remain a safe, secure and viable place to manage your money. Whether you’re here to invest, save, borrow or transact, you can rest assured your money and our future are in safe hands
